Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scored 439 runs for India in the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2026.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is currently one of the most famous batters across the nation. The 15-year-old has proved himself a prodigy through consistent performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and youth tournaments.

At a very young age, he already has a century to his name in the IPL for the inaugural champions, the Rajasthan Royals (RR). Later, he broke several records at the 2026 U19 men’s World Cup, solidifying his place as one of the most important young talents in the Indian pool.

Last month, the 15-year-old gave an outstanding performance at the U19 men’s cricket World Cup. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scored 439 runs in seven innings, hitting a record 30 maximums, the most by any player in the tournament’s history.

Sooryavanshi was also named Player of the Tournament and Player of the Match against England for his commendable performance in the final. He scored 175 runs off 80 deliveries in the tournament final against England, the highest by any player in an ICC tournament final, be it youth or senior.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is now eligible to play for the Indian senior cricket team. According to the International Cricket Council (ICC), the minimum age policy to make a senior debut is 15, and the Indian batter has turned 15 on March 27th, just one day before the 2026 edition of the IPL commences.

Sooryavanshi also seems ready to make his senior debut for the Men in Blue because of his ability to play all around the wicket and maintain his strike rate. The 15-year-old is one of the only three batters with multiple 150+ scores in youth ODIs, after Sri Lanka’s Pulindu Perera and South Africa’s Jorich van Schalkwyk.

Sooryavanshi’s skill set may lack composure under pressure; however, he will only get better in the coming years with exposure at the senior level. The 15-year-old’s fearlessness, explosive power, and shot-making ability could help the Men in Blue become an indomitable force in the upcoming limited-overs games of the year.

When did Vaibhav Sooryavanshi make his IPL debut?

The 15-year-old made his IPL debut last season against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on April 19, 2025.

How many T20 matches have Vaibhav Sooryavanshi played?

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has played 18 T20 matches, scoring 701 runs.
