Varun Chakravarthy suffered an injury scare in the first innings DC vs KKR clash of IPL 2026.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Delhi Capitals (DC) are battling in the 51st match of Indian Premier League (IPL), which is taking place at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Friday, May 8.
Both teams have struggled to come up with an impressive show so far in IPL 2026 and need to win their remaining games to be able to qualify for the playoffs.
With four wins and six defeats out of 10 clashes, Delhi take the seventh spot in the points table. KKR are placed in the eighth position, winning three and losing five games out of nine (one no result).
KKR won the toss and opted to field first in the match. They did not make any changes to their playing XI as they continued their winning combination. On the other hand, DC made two changes to their XI, adding Mukesh Kumar and Vipraj Nigam.

Notably, KKR spinner Varun Chakravarthy sustained an injury scare in the first innings of the encounter. He was seen limping while bowling and looked in pain. He also received medical attention near the boundary. After completing his four overs, he left the field and sat in the dug-out.
The right-arm spinner did not get any wickets in the clash, however, he bowled at a brilliant economy of 7.0, leaking just 28 runs in his four overs. The right-arm spinner has featured in 8 games For KKR so far, clinching ten wickets at an economy of 8.62, including a three-wicket haul.
Speaking about the match, Delhi failed to come up with a strong batting show. Pathum Nissanka (50) scored a half-century but other batters failed to support him. They started well with 49 runs in five overs, but were five wickets down before reaching 100 runs on the board.
Key batters like Nitish Rana, Sameer Rizvi, and Tristan Stubbs got out for single digits. Ashutosh Sharma added crucial 39 runs to take the scoreboard to 142/8.
KKR were spot on with their bowling, with Kartik Tyagi and Anukul Roy picking two scalps each. Vaibhav Arora, Sunil Narine, and Cameron Green got one wicket each.
