India's tour of West Indies 2023
Venkatesh Prasad slams India for being a mediocre team in the recent past

Former India fast bowler Venkatesh Prasad has been critical of the Indian cricket team in recent days.
Former Indian pace bowler Venkatesh Prasad has slammed team India after their continuous poor show in the limited overs format. India have been inconsistent in the ODI format. India lost the ODI series against Australia, Bangladesh, and New Zealand in the last year. They also had a disappointing T20 World Cup in Australia last year. India got a huge shock against the West Indies in the 2nd ODI that raised concern as the World Cup is just two months away. West Indies defeated India convincingly by 6 wickets at Kensington Oval in Barbados.
Venkatesh Prasad slams Mediocre India
Venkatesh Prasad has been critical of Indian team management in recent times. Venkatesh has openly criticised team management's lot of decisions, Talking about the recent performance Prasad said, “Test cricket aside, India has been very ordinary in the other two formats for quite some time now. Lost the ODI series against Australia, Bangladesh, and South Africa. Poor in the last two T20 World Cups. Neither are we an exciting team like England nor brutal like how the Aussie used to be”.
Venkatesh Prasad further added, “Despite the money and power, we have become used to celebrating mediocrity and are far from how champion sides are. Every team plays to win and so does India but their approach and attitude is also a factor for under-performance over a period of time”.
India have been struggling to win an ICC event for the last 10 years. They have lost 4 consecutive finals, including the 2021 and 2023 World Test Championship finals in England.
Fans are expecting the upcoming 2023 Cricket World Cup to end on a different note as India are hosting the tournament and in 2011 they won the championship as hosts of the tournament. The West Indies series have woken them up a bit. The second ODI result and India’s experimental approach has raised concern in Indian cricket fans' mind about the upcoming big events. Team India will play in the Asia Cup in September before entering the World Cup in 2023.
