T20 World Cup 2026 shatters viewership records, crosses 500 million in India

The T20 World Cup 2026 is being co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
Jay Shah, the chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC), hailed the record-breaking viewership of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2026 in India on March 4, 2026.
Cricket’s global reach has been further strengthened by the tournament, which India and Sri Lanka co-host. It has also shattered engagement across its digital platforms, including ICC.tv and its social media networks.
The competition, which started with 20 teams, is now down to the last four, with defending champions India, England, South Africa, and New Zealand in the semi-finals.
The knockout stage of the T20 World Cup 2026 will begin on Wednesday. New Zealand will face South Africa in the first semi-final at Eden Gardens. On the other hand, India and England will clash in the second semi-final on Thursday at Mumbai’s famous Wankhede Stadium.
As the only undefeated side in the competition, South Africa enter the semi-final. Captain Aiden Markram will try to maintain the run and advance to the T20 World Cup final for the second time in a row. The Mitchell Santner-led New Zealand will want to play a flawless game against the Proteas in the semi-finals.
India will enter the semi-final after defeating West Indies by five wickets in their last Super 8 match, which was crucial for both teams as they were tied on points.
In contrast, England, under the leadership of Harry Brook, has won five straight T20 World Cup matches in both the league stage and the Super 8.
