Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli stitched 168* runs for the second wicket in the third AUS vs IND ODI.

Former South African cricketer AB de Villiers lashed out at the critics of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli after their heroics in the ODI series against the Australian Cricket Team. He said that everyone is trying to push both the legends down for no reason.

Indian batting legends in Rohit and Kohli, who have retired from T20Is and tests, made a return to the Indian setup during the ODI series against Australia. Coming into the series, there were a lot of talks related to their retirement and more fire was added to the fuel when both failed in the first match in Perth.

Rohit, however, made a strong comeback in the second match in Adelaide, hitting 73 runs, while Kohli yet again failed bagging his second consecutive duck. But in the third ODI, it was a feast for fans as they got what they wanted.

The Sydney crowd witnessed Rohit-Kohli special as both the batters played sensational innings. While, the opening batter slammed an unbeaten 121, Kohli hit 74*. More than that, the duo also added 168 runs for the second wicket, their first hundred-plus partnership in nearly five years, putting rest to all retirement talks.

De Villiers, after their performance, lashed out at the critics, questioning them for their negativity on stars. Speaking in a video posted on his YouTube channel, he said:

“I don’t what it is about people. I don’t know if I can call them people. Cockroaches climbling out of their holes as soon as players get towards the backend of their careers. Why? Why do you want to pour negative energy into players that have given their lives for their country and this beautiful game of cricket. This is the perfect time to celebrate them.”

De Villiers pointed out that both Rohit and Kohli have faced a lot of criticism in the last few months, adding that everyone is trying to push them down. He elaborated:

“They have taken a lot of criticism in the last few months. Everyone is just trying to push them down for what reason I have no idea. Obviously, I am referreing to the minority becase I think the majority of people celebrate Rohit and Virat and their incredible careers. And it is a fantastic time to celebrate them once again.”

Both Rohit and Kohli will be next seen in action when India will host South Africa for a three-match ODI series, starting November 30.
