MI vs RCB: Virat Kohli becomes first Indian, overall fifth batter to score over 13000 runs in T20 cricket

Virat Kohli has slammed nine centuries in T20 cricket.

Indian batting legend Virat Kohli captured another milestone in his kitty during the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) opener has crossed 13,000 runs in his T20 career.

The right-handed batsman achieved the milestone during the match 21 of IPL 2025 between RCB and Mumbai Indians (MI). The RCB opener slammed a half-century at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and finished his innings at 67 off 42 deliveries.

Virat Kohli becomes fifth batsman to cross 13000 runs in T20s

Notably, Kohli has become the fifth player to smash 13000 runs in T20s. Other batters in the list are Chris Gayle (14562 runs), Alex Hales (13610 runs), Shoaib Malik (13557 runs), and Kieron Pollard (13537 runs). Kohli is also the first Indian batsman to cross the 13,000 mark with the bat in T20 cricket.

  3. Shoaib Malik – 13557 runs
  4. Kieron Pollard – 13537 runs

Moreover, he is the second-fastest to reach the mark in just 386 innings, with the quickest being Chris Gayle, who reached the milestone in 381 innings.

Kohli has a batting average of 41.6 across 386 innings and has also slammed nine tons and 99 half-centuries in the shortest format. Kohli has played for India, Delhi, and RCB in his T20 career so far. His highest score is unbeaten 122* runs, which he scored in national colours in a clash against Afghanistan during Asia Cup 2022.

Meanwhile, RCB are gearing towards a mammoth total against MI in the IPL 2025 match 21. The Rajat Paditar-led side reached 123/2 after 13 overs in the away match as MI bowlers struggled against their powerful batting line-up.

Kohli is the top run-getter for RCB in the season and has scored those runs at an average of more than 78 across five games. He has already slammed two half-centuries in the season. He slammed an unbeaten 59* against Kolkata Knight Riders in his first game. Later, he got out for 31 against Chennai Super Kings and seven against Gujarat Titans in the next two clashes.
