India defeated Nepal by 10 wickets and qualified for the Super 4s stage of Asia Cup 2023.

India defeated Nepal in their second Asia Cup 2023 Group A match in Kandy on September 4 by 10 wickets and as a result, qualified for the Super 4s stage along with Pakistan from Group A. It was a crushing win by the Men in Blue side.

Nepal were asked to bat first by India captain Rohit Sharma, who won the toss. Nepal had a good start as openers Kushal Bhurtel (38) and Aasif Sheikh (58) added 65 runs for the first wicket. Then Indian bowlers, especially Ravindra Jadeja brought their team back into the game.

Indian fielding was no good as they dropped three easy catches in the first 20 balls and otherwise, the fielding was also not up to standards. At one stage, India was looking good to wrap Nepal's innings up for 170 odd, but then Sompal Kami hammered 48 runs to take his team to 230 in the end.

In response, India’s target was reduced to 145 from 23 overs (DLS) method, but Rohit Sharma with 74* in 59 balls, and Shubman Gill with 67* in 62 balls finished the game with 17 balls to spare and all 10 wickets in hand.

India also qualified for the Super 4s stage along with Pakistan from Group A and these two teams will clash again in Colombo on September 10.
