Virat Kohli was removed by Mitchell Starc in the first IND vs AUS ODI.

Indian Cricket Team batter Virat Kohli didn’t have the kind of outing he would have wanted on his comeback game after seven long months. He couldn’t get going at all in the ongoing first ODI against the Australian Cricket Team, underway at the Perth Stadium in Perth.

Virat Kohli walked out to bat after India lost Rohit Sharma early for just eight. It was expected that he would come up with a great show and help his team score big. However, that wasn’t the case as India’s poor start with the bat continued after being put into bat first.

Virat Kohli was tested by Mitchell Starc before the Australian pacer removed him for an 8-ball duck. Kohli’s stay didn’t last long as he was back in the hut in the 7th over as he yet again chased the ball that was wide of the off stump.

Mitchell Starc bowled a pitched-up delivery that was outside off, Kohli chased for a big drive away from his body and got a thick outside edge. Cooper Connolly dived to his left at the backward point to take an acrobatic catch.

This was Virat Kohli’s first duck in Australia and with the wicket, Mitchell Starc became the second bowler to dismiss Virat Kohli for a duck on two instances after James Anderson across all Internationals. With his wicket, India lost their second wicket for 21.

Both Rohit and Kohli were expected to make a big impact as they made a comeback to the national side after a long gap of seven months. They would now be under pressure and would be keen to deliver in the last two games of the series.

Coming to the match, Australia made a great start with the ball and after removing Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, they removed skipper Shubman Gill as well. Indian top order combined to make just 18 runs and this is their lowest aggregate in an ODI since the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup semifinal against New Zealand in Manchester where they made three runs.
