Virat Kohli explains one factor in which IPL is better then ICC events
Virat Kohli has been part of Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL since its inception.
Star Indian batter Virat Kohli is currently out of action due to personal reasons. Kohli skipped the entire five-match test series against England due to the birth of his son ‘Akaay.’ Kohli will be back in action from the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League. Kohli will make his comeback during the IPL 2024 curtain raiser at Chepauk on 22nd March.
Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore will take on defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the opening game of the IPL 2024. Virat has highlighted one factor where he considers the IPL better than ICC events. Kohli believes that the Indian Premier League provides an opportunity for players to interact with each other in between the tournament.
Virat rates IPL above ICC events
While talking to Star Sports, Virat Kohli said that he loves playing in the IPL. Kohli said, “I absolutely love IPL, also because of the camaraderie you share, so many new players you play with, so many players that you’ve known for a long time who are not from your own country, whom you don’t see often. There’s a reason why everyone loves IPL so much, as there’s a connect, both for players and fans.”
Virat believes that in ICC events players do not get to interact with each other and this makes IPL stand out. Kohli added, “You do play all your tournaments which is one team versus another. ICC tournaments come every now and then, but even in ICC tournaments, you don’t interact with other players or see the other team, so often, But in IPL, you’re probably meeting every team just every second or third day, and that’s the beauty of IPL.”
Virat Kohli has been part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL from season one. RCB drafted Kohli after his U19 World Cup victory in Malaysia in 2008. Kohli is currently the highest run-scorer in the IPL with 7263 runs in 237 matches at an average of 37.25. He has also hit seven centuries and 50 half-centuries in his IPL career.
