ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Virat Kohli overtakes Shikhar Dhawan to become India's highest run-scorer in tournament's history

Virat Kohli is now India’s highest run-scorer in ICC Champions Trophy history.
The first semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 between India and Australia at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium is set for a thrilling finish.
Chasing 265 on a slow wicket, India lost Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma early, slipping to 43/2 inside the batting powerplay. Kohli and Iyer then stitched a crucial 91-run stand for the third wicket to bring India in control.
Iyer was bowled by a flipper off Adam Zampa, which added another twist to the game. Carrying the hopes of 140 crore Indians, Kohli has now become India’s highest run-scorer in ICC Champions Trophy history.

Before today’s semi-final clash between India and Australia, Kohli had 662 runs to his name in the ICC Champions Trophy. With his knock in the game, Kohli has gone past Dhawan to become India’s highest run-scorer in the tournament’s history. Dhawan had scored 701 runs in 10 matches of ICC Champions Trophy.

- 2. Shikhar Dhawan – 701 runs
- 3. Sourav Ganguly – 665 runs
- 4. Rahul Dravid – 627 runs
- 5. Rohit Sharma – 585 runs
Sourav Ganguly is third on the elite list with 665 runs, while Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma hold the fourth and fifth spots with 627 and 585 runs respectively.
At the time of writing, India have lost the crucial wicket of Axar Patel and are 178/4 in 35 overs. Virat Kohli (68) and KL Rahul (0) are at the crease for the Men in Blue.
