Virat Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal move up in the latest ICC Test rankings.

On Wednesday, the latest ICC test rankings saw former India captain Virat Kohli move up two spots from tenth spot to eighth. He is one of three Indian batters who are in the top ten ICC rankings in test cricket.

Kohli was last seen in action in red-ball cricket in January 2024 in South Africa. He missed the home five-test series due to the birth of his son in London.

The Indian test captain Rohit Sharma has slipped one spot to sixth place with 751 rating points. Young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal is the third Indian batter in the top ten. He moved up by one position to seventh.

Jaiswal has 740 rating points, while Virat has 737. Former England captain Joe Root has maintained his grip on the number one spot with 881 rating points and is followed by New Zealand’s Kane Williamson (859).

The latest ICC Test ranking saw some major changes following the test matches between Pakistan and Bangladesh and between England and Sri Lanka. Root had a brilliant game with 42 and 62*, and he has maintained his position at the top.

His teammate Harry Brook, who scored 56 and 32, has jumped up three spots to 4th place with 758 rating points. New Zealand all-rounder Daryl Mitchell is in third place with 768 ratings, while former Australian captain Steve Smith is fifth with 757 rating points.

Former Pakistan captain Babar Azam, who had a forgettable match against Bangladesh, has dropped six spots to ninth. He scored 0 and 22 in the first tests. But his teammate Mohammad Rizwan, who scored 171* and 51, has jumped seven places to the 10th position.

In the bowling department, Ravi Ashwin is at the top of the bowlers’ rankings. Ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja are in third and seventh place, respectively. English speedster Chris Woakes took six wickets against Sri Lanka, and he jumped four spots up to 16th. Sri Lanka’s Asitha Fernando jumped ten spots to 17th after taking six wickets against England.

In all-rounders’ rankings, Jadeja and Ashwin are at the top of the tree in first and second places, respectively.
