Virat Kohli scored an unbeaten 103 against Bangladesh in ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

In a thrilling clash at Pune during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, India added another victory to their campaign by defeating Bangladesh. Virat Kohli, former captain of Indian cricket team, played a pivotal role in this victory with his unbeaten century, anchoring India's innings to chase down the target of 257. Kohli's stunning innings of 103 runs not out came with a unique manner.

Virat refrained from taking a single for nearly 20 balls while his partner, KL Rahul, held at the other end. The decision raised eyebrows, but Kohli's after winning the man of the match award explained his decision of not taking the single.

Kohli's words reflected his determination to convert his starts into substantial innings. He acknowledged his past World Cup fifties but aimed for something more significant this time, which led to his remarkable century.

“I wanted to make a big contribution. I have made fifties in World Cups and wanted to finish it off this time." said Virat kohli in the post match interview

Kohli's innings was marked by his calculated approach, where he combined his natural aggression with patience. He knew the importance of staying till the end to ensure India's victory, and his innings was a masterclass in chasing down a target.

'Great atmosphere in the dressing room,' says Virat

Virat during the post match interview spoke about his innings, and the atmosphere in the dressing room and how the team are going about this World Cup.

"It was a dream start. It just calms you down. The pitch was good, allowed me to play my game - hit the gaps and find the boundaries whenever I could. Great atmosphere in the dressing room. The spirit is there for everyone to see. You need to create some momentum in the changing room to come out and play like this. Special feeling to play in front of such crowds." says Kohli

Bangladesh posted a competitive total of 256/8 in their 50 overs. Litton Das (66) and Mahmudullah (46) were the top-scorers for Bangladeshi side. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj were the pick of the bowlers for India, claiming two wickets.

India's chase saw contributions from Rohit Sharma (48) and Shubman Gill (53) at the top of the order. However, it was Virat Kohli's unbeaten century (103) and KL Rahul's steady presence (34 not out) that anchored the innings. They shared an essential partnership, helping India secure victory with 41.3 overs remaining.
