Virat Kohli will be playing his 500th international match for India when India take on West Indies for the 2nd test.

Virat Kohli broke MS Dhoni’s record for being involved in part of the most wins in International cricket by the Indian team after they defeated West Indies by an innings and 141 runs in the first Test which was played in Dominica’s Windsor Park in Roseau.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma shined with the bat as the 21-year-old scored 171 on his Test debut and the Indian captain scored his 10th Test century as well, and the duo added 229 runs for ht opening wicket.

Kohli played a gritty knock of 76 as India posted 421/5d in response to the Windies’ first innings total of 150 runs. Ravichandran Ashwin, who had taken 5/60 in the first innings, then picked 7 wickets in the second to make it 12 wickets for him in the match and helped India win by an innings and 141 runs.

India's comprehensive victory in the 1st Test against the West Indies at Dominica's Windsor Park helped Virat Kohli surpass MS Dhoni in an elite list and close in on Sachin Tendulkar's all-time record.

Virat Kohli is now just behind Sachin Tendulkar in the list of players part of most Indian wins in international cricket  

Thanks to India’s win in the first Test, Kohli has become the second Indian player to have appeared in victories for the Indian team across formats. This was the 296th occasion Kohli played a match that India won in his career.

Kohli left legendary Indian captain MS Dhoni behind, who had appeared in 295 victories for the national team.

Now, the former India captain is just behind Sachin Tendulkar on the list for being part of the most wins for the national team. The little master was part of 307 wins by the Indian team in international cricket.

In the second Test of the series, which begins on Thursday (July 20) at Port of Spain, Kohli will play his 500th international match for India, making history. After Tendulkar, Dhoni, and Dravid, Kohli will become only the fourth Indian player to reach the milestone. Additionally, he will become just the 10th player in cricket history to reach this landmark.
