Virat Kohli's first reaction out after RCB win WPL 2024

Virat Kohli has been associated with the RCB franchise from 2008.
Season after season, the men’s squad from Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has been riding high on the excitement of the Indian Premier League (IPL) since its start in 2008. Heartbreak and near-misses have befallen them time and time again, despite star-studded lineups and fervent followers.
On the other hand, the RCB women’s squad made history in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024, winning the title in just their second season. Their will and perseverance were on full display in their triumph against the Delhi Capitals women, demonstrating that gender is no barrier to achievement.
Inspiring optimism and proving that patience pays off despite the hurdles experienced along the way, the ladies have set a brilliant example as the men continue their pursuit of the IPL trophy.
RCB Women win the WPL 2024 trophy
The final was very thrilling! After a blazing start (64/0), the Delhi Capitals were swept by a Sophie Molineux tornado. The tide turned when her superb bowling resulted in three wickets in a single over. She expertly swirled the ball, taking advantage of Jemimah’s and Capsey’s careless strokes. The noose was further tightened by the spin duo consisting of Shreyanka Patil, Asha Shobana. RCB’s chase wasn’t easy.
They were wary at the start, but they kept wickets with deftness. Perry finalised the victory with Richa Ghosh after Sophie Devine and Smriti Mandhana laid the groundwork. Although it lacked flair, they displayed remarkable composure and stepped up their game when it counted. An example of tenacity and perseverance, RCB’s triumph served as a lesson.
In spite of his own Indian Premier League setbacks, Kohli dutifully praised the RCB women’s side on their victory, calling them “superwomen” in an Instagram story.

Kohli has endured the pain of losing and not winning the trophy for RCB. So, he is definitely overjoyed with the women’s team’s success in the tournament. Kohli would want to replicate the same success when he takes the field for the IPL 2024. It will be interesting to see if the RCB women’s victory rubs off on the men’s team.
