IND vs SA: Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma shatter HUGE record of Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid in ODIs

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma become the pair with the most ODIs for India.

The veteran pair of the Indian Cricket Team, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, has set another record in One-Day Internationals, the only format where they are seen in action now. The duo has become the pair to have played the most One-Day Internationals for India together, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid in doing so.

There have been speculations about the future of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in international cricket as they have retired from the other two formats of the game. With inconsistent game time, their role in the ODI team is under the scanner as the ODI World Cup is almost two years down the line.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli surpass Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid

The moment Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were named in the starting XI against South Africa in the first ODI in Ranchi, the duo took over Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid, becoming the pair to play the most ODIs for India together.

Rohit and Kohli have now started in 392 One-Day Internationals. The previous record was held by Sachin and Dravid with 391 One-Day Internationals to their name as a pair.

Ro-Ko take centre stage

Amid conjecture about their future, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have decided to pursue another appearance in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2027 for India. Rohit emerged as the leading run-scorer and Player of the Series against Australia in October.

After rare failures in the first two matches of the ODI series in Australia, Kohli also regained his form with an unbeaten 74 in Sydney. They also etched an 136 runs partnership in the first IND vs SA ODI and would be keen to carry on their form in the entire series.
