Indian cricketer Virat Kohli has score 48 ODI centuries so far.
Indian batting superstar Virat Kohli is targeting several batting records in the coming days. He has been running in great form in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 and has played four fifty-plus knocks in the tournament so far. Virat Kohli missed out on two centuries in the tournament as he was dismissed on 85 against Australia in Chennai and on 95 against New Zealand in Dharamshala. Virat Kohli is just one century away from equalling Sachin Tendulkar in ODIs.
Virat Kohli got his 48th ODI hundred against Bangladesh at MCA Stadium in Pune, and he is just one wicket away from equalling Sachin’s record of 49 ODI centuries. Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar holds the record for the most number of ODI centuries. He came closer against New Zealand but missed out by just 5 runs. Virat Kohli was severely criticised for delaying Team India’s win against Bangladesh as he slowed down for his century in Pune.
'Never thought things would....'
Virat Kohli has now come out openly and said that he never played for milestones, and it's his longevity in his career that has given him 78 international centuries and more than 26,000 international runs. Virat Kohli said, “If we talk about cricket, I had never thought of achieving it all, as in where my career is and how God has blessed me with such a career span and performances. I had always dreamt I'd do this, but I had never thought things would pan out this way exactly."
India’s leading batter, Virat Kohli, said that he never thought he would achieve so many hundreds and runs in his career. He added, “Nobody can plan these things, the way your journey is going, or the way things unfold in front of you. I hadn't thought that I'd score so many hundreds and so many runs in these 12 years." Kohli will be looking to complete this milestone as soon as possible, as he has seen a century-long drought in his career from 2020 to 2022.
