Angkrish Raghuvanshi was adjudged out for obstructing the field in the LSG vs KKR clash of IPL 2026.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are clashing in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 on Sunday, April 26. The match is being played at Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

Both teams have struggled to give a good performance in IPL 2026 so far. While LSG take the ninth spot in the points table, KKR are reeling at the last spot. Hence, both of them are eager for a victory in the ongoing game.

LSG captain Rishabh Pant won the toss and chose to field first in the encounter. The move worked as LSG bowlers made a mockery of KKR batters. The Ajinkya Rahane & Co. faced another batting collapse, with key batters losing their wickets for single digits.

While captain Ajinkya Rahane got out for 10 runs, Tim Seifert bagged a duck. Angkrish Raghuvanshi, who batted at three, lost his wicket for nine runs and his dismissal caught a lot of attention as he was given out for obstructing the field.

Raghuvanshi hit a shot towards mid-on against Prince Yadav and tried to take a quick single but Cameron Green sent him back. The incident happened in the 5th over of the first innings. The throw came at the batter’s end and hit Raghuvanshi, who dived to get back into his crease.

However, LSG fielders appealed for his dismissal for interrupting the run-out. The decision went upstairs and the third umpire eventually adjudged him out. Raghuvanshi, as well as KKR management, fumed over the umpire’s decision.

The third umpire analysed the replays thoroughly and concluded that since Raghuvanshi changed his direction while running back towards the crease, he was responsible for interrupting the run-out. As a result, he was adjudged out with the rare form of dismissal, which has occurred for the fourth time in IPL history.

The KKR camp was not pleased with the decision. They were surprised at the umpire’s verdict. Even Raghuvanshi looked totally disappointed and had a chat with the on-field umpire before leaving the field. As he walked back to the pavilion, he smashed his bat on the floor and threw away his helmet in frustration.

Notably, the run-out became a big point of discussion among commentators, who also debated whether it was justified. While Raghuvanshi changed his direction while running back, the throw was made from behind his back he was not in a position to look at the ball while diving. Watching the replays, a few commentators also agreed that the umpires made a mistake and they didn’t agree with the decision.
