IND vs AUS: [Watch] Washington Sundar comes up with a jaffa to uproot Alex Carey's stumps in Adelaide

Washington Sundar dismissed Alex Carey cheaply for nine runs in the 27th over.

Indian Cricket Team spinner Washington Sundar had a decent outing with the ball in second ODI of the three-match series against the Australian Cricket Team. The match between the two teams is taking place at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide on Thursday, October 23

Chasing a target of 265 runs, Australia failed to get going at the start with openers Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head losing their wickets cheaply for 11 and 28 runs respectively. India kept chipping in with wickets at regular intervals and put opposition under pressure.

Wicket-keeper Alex Carey, who came out to bat at five, was expected to be a key player for his team but he could not hold his ground for long. Struggling to score runs since the start of his batting, he was eventually dismissed by Indian all-rounder Sundar in the 27th over.

In what was the final delivery of the 27th over, Sundar hit Carey’s stumps as the Australian wicket-keeper failed to judge the ball. Bowling around the stumps, Sundar bowled a quick delivery to Carey, who tried to play a sweep and completely missed it. The left-handed batsman could only score nine runs off 17 balls, failing to hit any boundaries during his knock.

Earlier in the first innings, India posted 264/9 in the first innings after being asked to bat first. Opener Rohit Sharma played a superb knock of 73 runs, while vice-captain Shreyas Iyer (61) and Axar Patel (44) added crucial runs on the board. Spinner Adam Zampa clinched a four-wicket haul to overpower Indian batters, while Xavier Bartlett picked three wickets including the opening two crucial wickets of Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli.
