Former Pakistan cricketer Wasim Akram was all praises for Australian Cricket Team fast bowler Mitchell Starc for breaking his record of most wickets by a left-arm pacer in tests. He hailed the lanky pacer for his incredible hard work and urged him to keep the hunger on.
Australian Cricket Team fast bowler Mitchell Starc was at his best with the ball in the first innings of the ongoing test against England. After bagging a ten-fer in the opening game in Perth, he oozed his class with the pink ball as well.
Mitchell Starc picked six wickets in the first innings and during his spell, he also surpassed Wasim Akram’s tally of 414 wickets in the longest format of the game. The Australian pacer now has 418 wickets to his name and is going stronger.
It was only a matter of time before you crossed my tally of wickets – Wasim Akram to Mitchell Starc

As Starc surpassed Akram, the former Pakistan pacer came up with a heartfelt message for him. He said that it was only a matter of time before Starc crossed his tally. Taking to his Twitter account, he said:
Super Starc! Proud of you, mate,” Wasim wrote on X. “Your incredible hard work sets you apart, and it was only a matter of time before you crossed my tally of wickets. I am pleased to give this to you! Go well, and keep soaring to new heights in your stellar career.”
After going past Akram, Starc denied the left-arm GOAT tag and said that Wasim Akram still remains the greatest left-arm pacer in the world. He said:
“I’ll reflect on it later, Wasim’s still a far better bowler than I am. So as far as I’m concerned he’s still the pinnacle of left-armers and certainly right up there with bowlers to ever play the game. So it’s nice to be spoken of up around that, but I’ll just try and keep churning a few out.”
Starc is also the leading wicket-taker in the Ashes 2025-26 with 16 wickets to his name in just three innings. He would be keen to double his tally and help his team win.
