Wasim Akram sends out strong warning for India before Pakistan clash in World Cup

India will take on Pakistan at Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad in the World Cup.
The Indian Cricket team have not won an ICC title since the 2013 Champions Trophy. Despite being a gun side in all three formats, India failed to win any title and were knocked down in either the first or second stage of the knockout games. Recently India got decimated by Australia in the World Test Championship Final at The Oval. They have their next big assignment as 50-overs Cricket World Cup in India. It would be a fitting end to India’s wait of winning the ICC title. Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram feels India can win the tournament but he also warned the team India just two months before the World Cup.
Wasim Akram warns India about extra added pressure
Talking about India’s chances in the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup, Wasim Akram said, “Ofcourse, India have Mohammed Shami, who is very impressive and bowling like a dream, but Bumrahm needs to remain fit. I don’t know what his situation is in terms of fitness but if he is fine, it will make a huge difference. Besides, they have really good spinners and all-rounders, Jadeja – Ashwin let’s see who plays. There have been some really good players coming from India but there are certain disadvantages of home ground. In 2011, India won but there is always an extra added pressure. Same with Pakistan, If they were the hosts pressure would be on them”.
Wasim Akram slams PCB whining about Ind vs Pak venue
Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram also slams PCB’s stance of creating controversy around the venue for the big business India vs Pakistan clash. Earlier, PCB came out with strong reservations when Ahmedabad was chosen as the venue for the India vs Pakistan clash. Akram said, “See, I said this earlier as well, If I am asked to play on a certain date and at a certain venue, I have to play. Be it Ahmedabad, Chennai, Kolkata, or Mumbai. So just play and don’t worry about it”. India vs Pakistan clash might be shifted to some other date but the venue will remain the same. Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host this much-anticipated clash.
Three possible India vs Pakistan clashes next month
India will face off against Pakistan in the upcoming Asia Cup as well. There is a possibility of both teams meeting each other three times in the tournament, starting 2nd September at Kandy. India and Pakistan are placed in the same Group A along with a new entry Nepal. Both teams are set to face off again on 10th September at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
And If India and Pakistan go ahead to play in the final, they will take on once again on 17th September at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Asia Cup is scheduled to start on 31st August with Pakistan taking on Nepal at Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan. Pakistan and Sri Lanka will host the tournament in a Hybrid Model.
