David Miller played a brilliant cameo of 53 runs off 30 balls against New Zeland.
South Africans had a wonderful day in batting at MCA Stadium in Pune. They have outclassed New Zealand bowlers and put up 357 runs on the board to give the Kiwis a tough task to chase. New Zealand will require 358 runs to win the game and secure themselves from being knocked out of the tournament. South African wicket-keeper Quinton De Kock (114) and Rassie van der Dussen (132) had a magnificent 200 runs stand and David Miller played a quick fifty knock.
David Miller came in to bat at number 4, right after Quinton De Kock departed after scoring a century. Miller played a crucial 53-run innings in 30 balls with two fours and four towering sixes. Miller played a great role along with Rassie van der Dussen, who was taking Kiwi bowlers to the boundary line across the ground. Miller after his partner's departure, took charge and smashed a few quick boundaries to take South Africa above 350.
Daryl Mitchell takes a brilliant catch
When Miller was looking at his best in the final over, he was caught at the long-off by Daryl Mitchell. The New Zealand all-rounder took a brilliant catch at long-off boundary to dismiss Miller on 53 runs. Miller lofted one over long-off and Mitchell caught in the first but when he sensed himself going into the boundary line, so he lobbed the ball up in the air. Mitchell then took a comfortable position to take the catch in the second attempt and dismiss Miller.

Earlier in the innings, Quinton De Kock smashed his 4th century in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 and bettered his lead as the highest run-scorer with 545 runs in 7 innings. Quinton De Kock scored 114 runs in 116 balls with 10 fours and 3 sixes. Rassie van der Dussen was the top-scorer in the innings with 133 runs in 118 balls with 9 fours and 5 sixes. New Zealand missed Matt Henry who went back due to an injury in the mid-innings.
New Zealand require 358 runs to win the game in Pune. New Zealand’s third consecutive loss will make the tournament open for Pakistan. Pakistan need to win all of their remaining games and the Kiwis to lose all their remaining league games to qualify for the semifinal while New Zealand need two more wins to secure their qualification. New Zealand almost chased down 389 runs against Australia at HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala just a few days ago.
