Sri Lanka lost their last nine wickets for just 52 runs. The first innings had everything in it. It had some good batting performances, good bowling, some better fielding from Australia, and also the rain. The rain also interrupted the game once in the first innings. It came in the 32nd over of the innings when the umpires asked all the players to get back to the dugout.

The ground staff rushed to the pitch to cover up the square in the middle, and veteran opener David Warner also got into the act and helped the grounds men. The video of that act is circulating on social media, and everyone is praising David Warner for his act. ICC shared the video with a caption, "David Warner lends a helping hand to the ground staff 🤝"

Earlier, Sri Lanka looked to get a score of around 320 when their openers were going along. But once they lost the second wicket, they couldn't stop the collapse. Only three batters reached the double-figure mark. The fourth highest runs came in extras (13). For Australia, Adam Zampa finally made an impact and took 4/47 in 8 overs. Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc also chipped in with two wickets each.
