Delhi got three consecutive wickets in the 20th over of Mitchell Starc.

Australian pacer Mitchell Starc captured an amazing triumph with his team in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Starc helped Delhi Capitals (DC) to grab a superb team hat-trick in match No. 48 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Tuesday, April 29.

The DC vs KKR match of IPL 2025 takes place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Interestingly, Starc was part of KKR last season and also played a key role in driving the team to the title. However, the Aussie stalwart became a member of the Capitals ahead of the 2025 edition. The left-arm pacer did an amazing job with the ball against his former team.

Starc showed a wonderful piece of bowling in the 20th over of the DC vs KKR game. This left-arm bowler gave the Capitals their first breakthrough by dismissing KKR opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz. Later, he returned with three wickets in his final 20th over to dismantle KKR’s lower-order batters. Out of these three wickets, one was a run-out.

The veteran Aussie pacer dismissed Rovman Powell on the third delivery with lbw. Later, he got the better of Anukul Roy with a catch by Dushmantha Chameera near the boundary. The Sri Lanka player showed some quick reflexes to grab the catch. Starc aimed for a hat-trick off the next ball but failed to dismiss pacer Harshit Rana.

The KKR pacer tried to sneak a single after missing the ball to give the strike to Andre Russell. However, wicketkeeper Abishek Porel dismissed him through a run-out with a perfect throw. Hence, although Starc missed a personal hat-trick, his team achieved it. The video of the moment was shared on the micro-blogging social media platform X (formerly Twitter). Have a look at the video below.

Eventually, Starc captured three wickets for 43 runs across his four-over spell. Vipraj Nigam and Axar Patel also stole two wickets each. Meanwhile, KKR still posted a decent total of 204/9 in the first innings after being asked to bat first.

Their top four batsmen – Gurbaz (26), Sunil Narine (27), Ajinkya Rahane (26), and Angkrish Raghuvanshi (44) – gave the team a good start with their combined efforts. Later, Rinku Singh hammered a crucial 36 runs for the team.
