Dhruv Jurel was bought for Rs 20 lakhs by the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2022 mega auction.

Indian wicket-keeper batter Dhruv Jurel has earned massive respect for his recent performances in the side’s recently concluded five-match home test series against England, which was also his debut series in international cricket. Jurel was equally impressive behind the wickets and some former Indian cricketers also compared him with MS Dhoni.

The star player is now all set to return to the white-ball action in the upcoming 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he will play for Rajasthan Royals (RR). The talented batter recently landed in Jaipur to join the RR camp ahead of the IPL 2024.

In the IPL 2023, Jurel played a crucial role for RR as finisher. He played 13 matches and hammered 152 runs at a mind-blowing strike rate of 172.73. Meanwhile, the RR staff decided to pay tribute to Jurel for his recent heroics in whites and line up to greet the wicket-keeper with salutes.

The young lad was greeted with the heartwarming gesture and offered a salute in return as he made his way to his hotel room. The video was uploaded on franchise’s social media handles.

Here is the video:

During the test series against England, Jurel explained why he did salute gesture every time. The RR star revealed that his father is a Kargil War veteran, and he dedicated that salute to him to express gratitude for his support and to thank the Indian army in general for their selfless services to the nation.

Bought jewellery for my mother: Dhruv Jurel opens up on maiden IPL contract

Jurel opened up on his financial struggles and how his IPL maiden contract worth 20 lakhs helped him to pay all family debts, as well as how he bought jewellery for his mother after getting maiden deal at IPL 2022 auction.

“There was a huge debt on my parents when I got my maiden IPL contract. I paid all the debt from my first salary, and also bought jewellery for my mother,” Jurel said to News24 sports.

Rajasthan Royals will play their opening fixture of the IPL 2024 against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on March 24.
