Dressing room attendant at DDCA, Vinod Kumar received a signed jersey from Indian cricket team.

India got the better of Afghanistan in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup, courtesy a rollicking knock by skipper Rohit Sharma. The opener hit his seventh hundred in World Cup, his first of the ongoing edition. Rohit and Co. won hearts off the field as well, thanks to a heartwarming gesture.

Coach Rahul Dravid, on behalf of the team, presented a signed jersey to Mr. Vinod Kumar, for his service to the DDCA as a dressing room attendant. The likes of Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and the rest were seen congratulating Vinod Kumar in the dressing room, post the clinical victory over Afghanistan.

BCCI on X (formerly twitter) posted, "Vinod Kumar or Vinodji as he's fondly called at DDCA, was given a signed jersey by #TeamIndia for his service as dressing room attendant for 40 years. The little things that matter."

India made light work of the chase as Rohit Sharma started the onslaught while Ishan Kishan, his opening partner, was mere spectator at the other end. Rohit hit 131, notching up the hundred in 63 deliveries - fastest by an Indian in the World Cup. Former legendary cricketer Kapil Dev held the record previously- hitting a 72-ball century against Zimbabwe in the 1983 World Cup.

Rohit also surpassed Sachin Tendulkar to record most hundreds in the history of World Cup. The elegant opener, who was India's most successful batsman in the 2019 World Cup, stamped his authority in the current edition of the flagship event after a failure in match against Australia. Virat Kohli, too, found himself amongst runs as he brought up his second consecutive half-century. Kohli remained unbeaten on 55* to help India seal an 8-wicket win.

Indian will next take on Pakistan on October 14 in Ahmedabad. The Indian think-tank will be pleased to see Rohit and Virat scoring big ahead of the crucial contest. Pacer Jasprit Bumrah, too had a memorable outing, scalping four wickets against Afghanistan.
