Jonty Rhodes, who is known for his down-to-earth nature, helped the ground staff at Ekana stadium.

There’s a rain delay in Lucknow. Persistent inclement weather in the last 8-10 days in Central India put so many brakes in between cricketing actions. Once again, Rain has stopped Lucknow Super Giants and Chennai Super Kings clash almost at the end of the first innings. Lucknow Super Giants were 125/7 in 19.2 overs when the rain got heavier and the umpires decided to stop the play. Covers were brought on, and the groundsmen had one extra special man working with them. Lucknow’s fielding coach Johnty Rhodes helped the groundsmen in putting the covers on the wickets.

Special help from Jonty Rhodes

Former South African player and Lucknow Super Giants' fielding coach Jonty Rhodes, after looking at the rain, which was getting heavier rushed towards covers at boundary line to help the groundsmen. He was seen carrying the covers and running towards the wicket, after that one ground staff came in to share the load and Johnty Rhodes had to leave. After a few steps, Rhodes saw another opportunity and rushed back to pick the covers and ran towards the wicket with the groundsmen. Covers are still on at Ekana Stadium as the rain is getting heavier every minute.

Before the rain arrived, it was yet another great day for the bowlers. Slow bowlers, especially spinners have made Ekana their most favourable ground. CSK’s spin trio Ravindra Jadeja (1 wicket), Maheesh Theekshna (2 wickets), and Moeen Ali (2 wickets) wreaked havoc in Lucknow’s top order batting. They together picked up 5 wickets in 11 overs and gave away only 61 runs. Moeen Ali ended up with 2/13 in his 4 overs. Ayush Badoni (59) and Nicholas Pooran's (20) 59 runs partnership helped Lucknow reach a decent total.
