Divecha Pavilion Level 3 at the Wankhede Stadium is now named after Rohit Sharma.
Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) felicitated Indian ODI captain Rohit Sharma on Friday, May 16, with the inauguration ceremony of a stand named after him at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Last month, MCA announced that they will rename a stand at the venue after the Indian cricketing legendâs name.
The Divecha Pavilion Level 3 stand inside the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai was renamed after Sharmaâs name. The MCA took the step as Sharma led Indian Cricket Team to two back-to-back ICC titles during last one year.
The right-handed batsman led Team India to win ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in June last year. India defeated South Africa in the final to win the trophy. Earlier in March 2025, the Rohit Sharma & Co. crushed New Zealand in the final of ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

MCA inaugurated the Rohit Sharma stand at the Wankhede Stadium with an official ceremony on Friday. During the ceremony, Sharmaâs parents, Gurunath Sharma and Purnima Sharma, were present at the occasion. They also inaugurated the stand.
His wife Ritika Sajdeh was also present during the ceremony. The video of the moment went viral on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
Notably, former cricketers Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, Vijay Merchant, and Dilip Vengsarkar have stands named after them at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Hence, Sharma has become the fifth Indian cricketer to have a stand on his name at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Speaking at the event, Sharma said he always wanted to play for Mumbai and India.
âWhat is going to happen today, I have never dreamed of. As a kid growing up, I wanted to play for Mumbai, for India. No one thinks of this. For me to have my name amongst the greats of the game. I cannot express it in words. This is also special as I am still playing. I have retired from two formats, but I am still playing one format,â he said.
Meanwhile, Sharma recently announced his retirement from test cricket. The 38-year-old bid goodbye to the longest format on May 7 after playing 67 tests for the national team. Sharma will continue to play for the national team in ODIs. He is also the current ODI skipper.
Sharma is currently busy with Mumbai Indians (MI) in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, which will resume on May 17.
