Watch: Mohammed Siraj takes a screamer to dismiss Jermaine Blackwood

Mohammed Siraj took a screamer to send back Windies vice-captain Jermaine Blackwood.

Indian spinners have dominated the first session’s play at Windsor Park against the West Indies. Coming back in the playing XI, Ravi Ashwin has rattled West Indian openers and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja brought a crucial breakthrough just before lunch on day 1, all thanks to a screamer taken by Mohammed Siraj at Mid-off.

Siraj took a diving catch to dismiss Windies number three batter Jermaine Blackwood on just 14 runs. With Blackwood’s wicket, India got the grip on the first innings as Windies were 4 down in just 68 run-score. India entered the first test with 3 pace bowlers and 2 spinners in the eleven.

Siraj's screamer puts India on top

Ravindra Jadeja bowled only two overs in the first session but he kept his line tight against Jermaine Blackwood. Just like Ashwin, Jadeja was also trying to entice Blackwood for shots and draw him forward. On the last ball of the session, Jadeja bowled one outside off stump where Blackwood went for a lusty drive over mid-off region. He could not get the direction right, as Siraj ran from the mid-off to mid-on region. In just a few steps he leaped in the air and caught Jermaine Blackwood to give Windies another setback at the end of the session.

Mohammed Siraj got huge applause after he took an incredible catch. Everyone was surprised to see Siraj's athleticism and agility on the field. Siraj didn’t had any success so far in the game with the ball but his effort on the field will lift him for the rest of the game.

Siraj and Jaydev Unadkat both failed to attack Windies openers in the first hour and their default line and length gave Kraigg Brathwaite and Tagenarine Chanderpaul some respite. Ashwin got both openers out later in the first session.
