Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni was caught shedding happy tears as his team defeated Gujarat Titans (GT) in the final of the IPL 2023 to become five-time Indian Premier League champions on Tuesday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Rain delayed the game even on the reserve day. Still, Jadeja showed remarkable poise by hitting a six and a four, scoring the necessary 10 runs from the final two balls, and helping the Chennai-based team reach their revised target of 171 runs in just 15 overs to win their fifth IPL championship.

When Gujarat Titans were put in to bat first, B Sai Sudharsan blasted 96 in 47 balls as they reached 214/4 in 20 overs. This was the highest-ever score in an IPL final by any team.

Captain cool MS Dhoni had an emotional moment on Tuesday after Chennai Super Kings defeated Gujarat Titans in the final by five wickets via the DLS method.

When he raised match-winner Ravindra Jadeja in front of CSK's dugout, the 41-year-old nearly shed a tear. In the crucial IPL final, Jadeja, whose performance with the bat was inconsistent this season, emerged as CSK's savior.

MS Dhoni kept his eyes closed in the dugout, unable to watch the last 3 balls of the thrilling finale. While it looked improbable for CSK, Ravindra Jadeja had other ideas: he hit a six in the 5th delivery of the over before hitting the winning runs with a boundary.

Dhoni opened his eyes only after the winning runs were hit. Ravindra Jadeja took a victory lap around the ground as he celebrated his heroics in style in front of his home fans.

Minutes later, arguably the moment of IPL 2023 arrived as an emotional MS Dhoni lifted Ravindra Jadeja and the two celebrated the historic victory.
