MS Dhoni scored 20 runs in just 9 balls with two sixes and 1 four.

On May 10, 2023, the 55th IPL 2023 match between MS Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings and David Warner-led Delhi Capitals played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk. In the standings, CSK sits in second place, while DC have made a strong recovery after losing their first five games in a row.

MS Dhoni decided to field first after CSK won the toss. Ambati Rayudu's inclusion in the starting XI was also disclosed by the skipper. However, spinner Lalit Yadav had been added to their starting eleven, according to David Warner.

The innings for the Yellow Army didn't get off to the usual start that Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad are known for. Conway (10) was dismissed while the team was on the powerplay, and Gaikwad (24) was out after the first ball.

Following Moeen Ali's removal as well, the top order found it difficult to leave a lasting impact. The scoreboard showed 77/3 after 11 overs, and Ajinkya Rahane's dismissal in the 12th over dealt CSK an additional setback. Lalit Yadav, a spinner for DC, was brought by Warner to the assault, and he did not disappoint.

Ajinkya Rahane was out to Yadav’s brilliant catch after scoring 21 runs off of 20 balls.

MS Dhoni makes a quick contribution to CSK innings, hitting two sixes in the 19th over

CSK was struggling as they only had 139 runs by the 18th over but Dhoni's blazing shots in the 19th over turned the situation upside down. Dhoni helped CSK score 21 runs in the 19th over after smashing two sixes and a boundary.

Khaleel Ahmed stepped up to bowl the 19th over and after two good balls which went for singles, he was taken to the cleaners by MS Dhoni, who has done this quite often in the ongoing IPL 2023.

The first six was a pull over mid-wicket on a slower ball, which was followed by a four, which came courtesy of a thick edge over short third man. On the last ball of the match, Dhoni hammered Khaleel’s wide, full ball over his head for six.

However, Mitchell Marsh dismissed both MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja in the 20th over and brought DC back into the game. He only gave away 7 runs in the last over and restricted the hosts to 167 runs at the loss of 8 wickets.
