In the second Test against West Indies, the Indian cricket team made a solitary change. Shardul Thakur's unavailability due to a niggle led to Mukesh Kumar stepping in, thus marking his Test debut for the national team.
India captain Rohit Sharma at the toss said," Shardul has pulled up a niggle. He's not fit. Mukesh Kumar is going to make his debut. He has worked hard in the domestic cricket."

Mukesh Kumar, boasts an outstanding record of 149 wickets in just 39 first-class matches, maintaining an impressive average of 21.55. His consistent performances in both domestic cricket and the performance in the IPL 2023 caught the attention of the selectors, leading to his inclusion in the Indian Test squad for the tour of West Indies.
Kumar was even included as India's standby bowler for the ICC World Test Championship final against Australia last month in England.
