Ravi Shastri said that Shubman Gill will get even better in future.
Former India all-rounder and head coach Ravi Shastri has heaped praises on Shubman Gill after his heroics with the bat in the recently concluded Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025. The Indian skipper smacked four centuries across five tests in England, including a double century.
With 754 runs in 10 innings at an average of over 75, Gill finished as the highest run-scorer in the series. He was also adjudged as Player of the Series, alongside England batter Harry Brook. Batting at the crucial number four slot, the right-handed batsman broke plenty of records with his batting masterclass.
Ahead of the series, Gill was appointed as the new test skipper of India. Leading a young side against England, he showed an example of brilliant captaincy skills and helped India to draw the five-match series 2-2.

Shubman Gill will be around for a long time: Ravi Shastri
While speaking in a video shared by Sky Sports Cricket on X (formerly Twitter), reputed cricket commentator Shastri said that Gill will have a long career. He also added that the 25-year-old will get even better in future with more exposure.
“Shubman Gill, he’ll be around for a long, long time, because we’ve seen what kind of series he’s had here. I think he’s only 25 years of age, and as, you know, with this exposure, he’ll get even better”, he said.
“He’s right up there, he will be up there, he’s composed, he’s very regal, he’s got that, you know, when you look at him, there’s something regal about him, the way he bats. He’s very easy on the eye, very fluent, and has the ability to play the long innings”, he added.
Meanwhile, other than Gill, Rishabh Pant, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ravindra Jadeja, and KL Rahul were stand-out performers with the bat for India in the series. In bowling, Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, and Akash Deep grabbed a lot of limelight.
Siraj, after bowling more than 185 overs across five games, finished as the highest wicket-taker in the series with 23 scalps. Meanwhile, Gill is set to lead North Zone in the upcoming Duleep Trophy 2025-26 starting August 28.
