A snake entered in the ground during Galle Titans vs Dambulla Aura clash in the LPL 2023.

In a rare instance on a Cricket field, a snake halted the game in the Lanka Premier League (LPL 2023). The incident happened during the Dambulla Aura’s chase against Galle Titans. As Shakib al Hassan was gearing up to bowl his first over in the game, a snake was sighted inside the playing area and halted the play for about a few minutes, also causing tensions among the players. Ground Staff had to come and intervene and catch the snake. The game was resumed right after the snake was moved out of the ground.

Former Indian wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik made a hilarious tweet after the incident. Sharing the video of the snake moving in the field he tweeted, “The Naagin is back, I thought it was in Bangladesh”.

Fans have also taken this incident in a fun way. Dinesh Karthik was taking a dig at the Bangladesh Cricket team as they were using the Nagin dance as a celebration during the Nidahas Trophy played in 2018. Dinesh Karthik was part of the Indian team and played the winning shot against Bangladesh in the final of the tournament in 2018.

Lanka Premier League's fourth edition (LPL 2023) began on Sunday. It was a doubleheader day on LPL on Monday. In the first game, Dambulla Aura are taking on Galle Titans at R Premadasa Cricket Stadium in Colombo. Clash was full of entertainment and The game was tied and extended to super over. Batting first, Dambulla Aura posted 180 runs on the board with the help of Bhanuka Rajapaksha (48) and Dasun Shanaka (42) in the batting order. 

Chasing the target, Galle Titans also replied magnificently. Dhananjaya De Silva (43) and Kusal Perera (40) contributed immensely to the chase. Wicket-keeper Alex Ross’s 39 runs knock helped tie the game. Dasun Shanaka bowled a magical spell and picked up 3 wickets in his 4 overs conceding 27 runs. Galle required 16 runs in the final over, and Alex Ross smashed 15 on the final over of Kasun Rajitha.
