Virat Kohli was rested for the second ODI which India lost by 6 wickets to West Indies.

Former Indian captain Virat Kohli made a young fan’s day in Barbados on the sidelines of the second ODI against West Indies, as he readily accepted a gift of a bracelet from her and wore it right in front of her.

Virat Kohli, along with Rohit Sharma, were rested for the second ODI of the three-match series while Hardik Pandya captained the Indian team. West Indies captain Shai Hope won the toss and chose to bowl first.

But Ishan Kishan (55) and Shubman Gill (34) gave India a very good start of 90 runs, but after that, none of the other batters, barring Suryakumar Yadav (24) could contribute something substantial as India lost their last 9 wickets for 91 runs and finished their innings at 181 just shy of 40 overs.

For West Indies, Gudakesh Motie and Romario Shepherd took 3 wickets each.

In reply, Kyle Mayers (36) gave a flying start to West Indies, but then Shardul Thakur picked three quick wickets to peg the West Indies innings a bit. But Captain Shai Hope held one end and remained unbeaten on 63 while getting support from Keacy Carty, who made 48* as West Indies won by 6 wickets to spare.

The series now stands level at 1-1 with the third and final ODI to be played on Tuesday at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, Trinidad.

Virat Kohli wears a bracelet gifted by a young fan, making her very happy

On the sidelines of the match, several Indian cricketers including Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Suryakumar Yadav interacted with the fans took selfies, and signed autographs.

During one such interaction, a young fan gifted Kohli a bracelet she had made and Kohli lovingly wore it on his hand.

In a video posted by the BCCI, Kohli can the girl can be heard saying, “I have made a gift for you.” Kohli replied, “Oh really!”

Reacting to Kohli’s gesture, the girl’s father got emotional and said: “It’s a family reunion. We love cricket. We are a family full of cricket lovers. This is the best time to be over here. It was really kind of him to come over here because my daughter did make him a bracelet and he was really nice… you know it brings tears to my eyes that he was so down to earth coming over here wearing the bracelet in front of us and taking pictures.”

The girl also looked over the moon after giving the bracelet to Kohli. She said: “I was screaming Kohli. He came over and I gave him my bracelet that I made with my hands.”
