Virat Kohli took a superb catch at extra cover region to send back Ayush Badoni.

It is not a day for the batters at the Ekana Stadium. Spinners for Lucknow and now pacers for Royal Challengers Bangalore are taking control of the game. Batting first, RCB gave LSG 127 runs to chase. It may look like a low-score in T20 cricket, but Lucknow’s Ekana has a habit of producing low-scoring thrillers. RCB’s bowlers have started nicely against Lucknow Super Giants' top order. Mohammad Siraj and Josh Hazlewood both have picked up a wicket each. Hazlewood sent back Ayush Badoni who came in to open the inning with Kyle Mayers in captain KL Rahul’s absence.

Virat caught Badoni at Extra Cover

Making his comeback after a long injury gap, Josh Hazlewood, in his second over picked up Ayush Badoni. Badoni trying to go over the extra cover region was caught by Virat Kohli. Hazlewood had kept a tight line against Lucknow’s batters in defending a small total. Badoni while taking his chances tried a lofted drive in his full-length delivery, but was caught at extra cover by Virat who was agile enough to Lucknow third blow in the powerplay.

Lucknow had a very poor start to the chase with Kyle Mayers losing his wicket early in the first over against Md. Siraj. Then Glenn Maxwell sent back Krunal Pandya in the 4th over of the inning. At first, it looked like Lucknow would have an advantage with the kind of batting line-up they have but RCB bowlers have given them a reality check in a small chase.

In the power play, they have lost 4 wickets in just 34 runs. Kyle Mayers (0), Ayush Badoni (4), Krunal Pandya (14), and Deepak Hooda (1) are back in the dugout. KL Rahul is yet to come into bat. Rahul injured his hamstring while chasing a boundary in the RCB inning. Rahul’s character is needed in these kinds of chases.
