RCB could score only 50 runs in 6.4 overs following Faf du Plessis' departure

In a battle of two Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore after two early blows looked in control against Rajasthan Royals as RCB captain, Faf du Plessis and all-rounder Glenn Maxwell added 127 runs in 11 overs in an aggressive partnership. Rajasthan looked under pressure as RCB were cruising for a huge total at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Royals got an opportunity in the 14th over when Yashaswi Jaiswal with a brilliant throw from the covers region sent RCB captain Faf back into the dugout. Royals after the Du Plessis' wicket made a comeback and restricted Royal Challengers Bangalore to 189 runs in 20 overs.

Captain Faf du Plessis was once again at his best in the IPL 2023. After Virat and Shahbaz Ahmed’s wicket, Faf along with Glenn Maxwell (77) took charge of the inning. He played a magnificent knock of 62 runs in 39 balls before Jaiswal’s throw ran him out. In the 14th over, He tried to cover drive Sandeep Sharma and ran for a single, Yashaswi Jaiswal with his alertness and spot-on throw from Covers rattled non-strikers stump to give Royals a breakthrough after a long Maxwell-Du Plessis partnership.

For Rajasthan Royals this came as a boon, Yashaswi Jaiswal’s brilliance in the field made the Royals cheered up for the next 7 overs. Once going for a 230 plus score, they managed to post 189 runs on the board. Chahal in his last two conceded only 11 runs. RCB in the last 40 balls after Du Plessis’ wicket could manage to score only 50 runs and lost 7 wickets. Along with Faf du Plessis, two other batters were also run out. It looked like the same old persistent problem for RCB, where lower and middle order ‘UNDO’ the hard work done by the top-order.
