Hobart Hurricanes beat Perth Scorchers to win the WBBL 2025 by beating Perth Scorchers Women by 8 wickets in the final.
The 11th edition of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) ended recently. And finally, after a decade-long wait, the Hobart Hurricanes Women were able to get their hands on the trophy. They beat Perth Scorchers Women by 8 wickets to lift the trophy.
The Hurricanes were the best team of the tournament. They made it to the final directly after finishing the group stage at the top and won the ultimate game. It was yet another successful season of the league.
There were plenty of incredible individual performances throughout the tournament. Some players performed better than expectations and impressed everyone. This article will have all those names, as we discuss here about the best combined XI of the WBBL 2025.
Team of the Tournament for the WBBL 2025
1. Beth Mooney (PS-W)

Beth Mooney had an incredible season, and she showed her form when it mattered a lot. Mooney was the reason that the Perth Scorchers played the final. She won the Player of the Match Awards in the Knockout and Challenger rounds and took her team to the final. Mooney scored the most runs in the tournament. She scored 549 runs in 13 innings at an average of 45.75 and a strike rate of 136.90.
2. Meg Lanning (MS-W)

Meg Lanning had yet another season where she scored plenty of runs. The veteran opener had a little tumble in the final phase, but her overall season was brilliant. She scored the second-most runs in the WBBL 2025. Lanning scored 479 runs in 11 innings at an average of 53.22 and a strike rate of 136.07. She had the best batting average (53.22) and the highest individual score of 135 runs in the WBBL 2025.
3. Danni Wyatt-Hodge (HH-W)

Danni Wyatt-Hodge was one key reason that Hobart Hurricanes won their maiden WBBL title. She was the key batter for the champions and scored the most runs for the team. Her quick starts and solid partnerships at the top gave the team an edge. Wyatt scored 432 runs in 10 innings at an average of 48 and a strike rate of 144. She scored four half-centuries and will be the batter at no. 3 in WBBL 2025 team of the tournament.
4. Sophie Devine (PS-W)

Sophie Devine had one of the most impactful performances as an individual. She led the Scorchers to the final and will be the captain of this team. The New Zealand all-rounder took the most wickets for the Scorchers. Devine took 15 wickets at an economy rate of 8.09. With the bat, she scored 235 runs at 23.50. Her all-round ability can give the team a good balance to the WBBL 2025 team of the tournament.
5. Ashleigh Gardner (SS-W)

Ash Gardner had yet another blockbuster season of the WBBL. She led Sydney Sixers to the Challenger Round and displayed a good all-round performance. The all-rounder had an average season with the bat, but she finished as the joint-most wicket-taker in the WBBL 2025. She took 19 wickets in 10 innings at an economy rate of 7.67. Her 5/15 was the best bowling figure this season. With the bat, she scored 143 runs and was underutilised. She can be a good addition to WBBL 2025 team of the tournament.
6. Nicola Carey (HH-W)

It was Nicola Carey who hit the winning runs for Hobart Hurricanes, and she was fantastic throughout the season. She chipped in with useful contributions and was a key performer for the champion. Carey scored 186 runs at an average of 46.50 and a strike rate of 124.83. With the ball, she took 10 wickets at a decent economy rate of 7.52. She gives a pacey all-round option to the team.
7. Annabel Sutherland (MS-W)

The captain of the Melbourne Star Women, Annabel Sutherland, was one of the standout all-rounders in the tournament. She bowled some tough spells in death overs and played a few crucial knocks under pressure. Annabel can change gears when needed and bowl a heavy bowl. Overall, she took 11 wickets and scored 174 runs with the bat. She gives four good overs of pace and bats anywhere in the middle order.
8. Georgia Wareham (MR-W)

The last season’s winner, Melbourne Renegades Women, failed to qualify for the playoffs this season. But Georgia Wareham was unstoppable this season. The all-rounder had a brilliant season with bat and ball. She finished with 19 wickets (joint-most) at an economy rate of 5.47. With the bat, she scored 277 runs at an average of 39.57 and a strike rate of 147.34. With this form, she will be a great addition to WBBL 2025 team.
9. Heather Graham (HH-W)

Another key performer from Hobart Hurricanes, Heather Graham, makes the cut for this team. The all-rounder didn’t have much to contribute with the bat, as she wasn’t needed much. With the ball, she took wickets with new and old balls and finished as the top wicket-taker for her team. She dismissed 16 wickets at an economy rate of 7.76.
10. Linsey Smith (HH-W)

Another bowler from Hobart Hurricanes that had an incredible season was England’s Linsey Smith. The left-arm spinner made an impact time and time again. She was used smartly by the captain and broke partnerships when needed. Smith had some unplayable bowling spells, and she took 15 wickets at an economy rate of 7.58.
11. Kim Garth (MS-W)

This team has multiple spinners, and Kim Garth will be our final pick. The veteran pacer had a pretty good season with the ball. Garth’s ability to take wickets with the new ball makes her a great weapon for this team. She took 14 wickets at a decent economy rate of 7.21.
