Revealed: Why West Indies players are wearing black armbands in 1st ODI vs India

West Indies have been bowled out on just 114 runs against India in the first ODI.
The West Indies are playing the first ODI against India wearing black armbands to mourn the death of former left-arm spinner Raphick Jumadeen. Jumadeen died at the age of 75 earlier today. WI players have given tribute to former spinner and cricket administrator Raphick Jumadeen by wearing black armbands during the first ODI against India at Kensington Oval in Barbados.
West Indies cricket board informed on social media about the demise of Jumadeen and men in maroon giving their tribute to the former left-arm spinner. West Indies have struggled to put up a fight against Team India in the entire series.
WICB took twitter to reveals the reason why the home team are wearing black armbands and posted, “The #MeninMaroon are wearing black armbands today to acknowledge the passing of former Trinidad and Tobago and West Indies cricketer Raphick Jumadeen”. Raphick Jumadeen played 12 test matches for the Windies from 1972 to 1979.
Jumadeen played along the Windies brutal pace attack, during his time West Indies preferred to play with all pace attack as a tactic. Despite that Jumadeen got the opportunity to represent West Indies in 12 tests and picked up 29 wickets. In 2008 he was also inducted into the Windies selection panel headed by Clyde Butts. Jumadeen is considered a legend in Trinidad and Tobago cricket.
West Indies have struggled to put up a fighting total against India as they have been bowled out on just 114 runs in the first ODI. Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja wreaked havoc in the West Indies batting lineup as they both picked 7 wickets in partnership.
Kuldeep Yadav finished with a magnificent spell of 4/6 in just 3 overs, while Ravindra Jadeja picked up 3 for 37 in his 6 overs spell. Hosts captain Shai Hope played a fighting knock of 43 and failed to gather support at the other end. India after winning the toss invited the hosts to bat first. India need 115 runs to win the first ODI.
