The second test between India and the West Indies is underway at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Indian Cricket Team are squaring off with the West Indies Cricket Team in the second test, which began on Friday, October 10 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. After winning the toss, Indian skipper Shubman Gill opted to bat first.

While India opted for a same playing XI as the previous game, the West Indies made two changes to their team. Tevin Imlach and Anderson Phillip replaced Brandon King and Johann Layne in the XI.

Indian openers KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal provided a decent start with the bat, etching an opening stand of 58 runs for the first wicket. However, despite looking great with the bat, Rahul lost his wicket for 38 runs after getting stumped. After his dismissal, Jaiswal and Sai Sudharsan took the onus helped the team to cross 200 runs on the scoreboard.

As the West Indies players arrived on the field, they were seen wearing black armbands, which caught the attention of many cricket fans. The reason behind it is that the visitors are paying tribute to former West Indies cricketer Bernard Julien, who passed away last week.

“The West Indies players are wearing black armbands on day 1 as a tribute to former player Bernard Julien who passed away last week. Julien was a member of the 1975 World Cup winning team,” Cricket West Indies informed on X (formerly Twitter).

Julien was part of the Clive Lloyd-led West Indies team that won the maiden ICC Cricket World Cup in 1975. The former all-rounder represented the West Indies from 1973 to 1977 in international cricket. During his career, Julien scored 866 runs and clinched 50 wickets across 24 tests. In 12 ODIs, he grabbed 18 wickets at an average of 25.72, while also scoring 86 runs across eight innings.

Meanwhile, the Shubman Gill & Co. are aiming for a clean sweep against the visitors in the second test. They lead the two-match series 1-0 after winning the opening game by an innings and 140 runs.
