West Indies Cricket Team showed an impeccable performance in the recently-concluded ODI series against Pakistan Cricket Team. The Caribbean side crushed Pakistan in the three-match series 2-1 at home, claiming an ODI series win against the Asian side after decades.
All three ODI games between West Indies and Pakistan took place at Brian Lara Stadium, Trinidad. Led by Shai Hope, the hosts commenced the series on a losing note as they faced a defeat in the first ODI by five wickets. Mohammad Rizwan-led Pakistan chased down a 281-run target in the match.
However, the home team made a brilliant comeback by winning the next two games to capture the series win. After being affected by rain, the second game was reduced to 37 overs per innings. After being asked to bat first, Pakistan piled up 171/7, however, West Indies chased down the target by five wickets.
In the final encounter, the hosts clinched a huge victory by 202 runs. In the first innings, West Indies posted 294/6 with an unbeaten century by skipper Hope (120*). Later, Jayden Seales registered a six-wicket haul to bowl out Pakistan for just 92 runs, with Pakistan witnessing one of their worst batting collapses in 50-over cricket.
West Indies win an ODI series against Pakistan after 34 years
Surprisingly, West Indies have registered an ODI series win against Pakistan after 34 years. Their last ODI series win against Pakistan came long back in November 1991 during an away campaign.
Led by Richie Richardson, West Indies defeated Pakistan in first of the three-match series by 24 runs, defending a 171-run target. The second ODI ended in a tie. In the final clash, West Indies defended a 205-run target in the second innings, restricting Pakistan to 187/8.
Meanwhile, in the recently-concluded ODI series, pacer Jayden Seales won Player of the Series award. The right-arm pacer picked 10 scalps across three games to finish as the highest wicket-taker of the series.
