What happened to Mayank Agarwal? All you need to know about Indian cricketer who got hospitalised

Mayank Agarwal was hospitalised in Agartala after consuming a fluid in a flight to Delhi.

Karnataka opener Mayank Agarwal had a freak incident while travelling to Delhi from Agartala in between the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2023-24. Mayank was rushed to a hospital in Agartala after he reportedly drank a ‘poisonous substance’ in the flight. Mayank and Karnataka team was travelling back to Delhi after playing a Ranji Trophy game against Tripura. Mayank had a decent outing and scored a half-century in the first innings.

Mayank Agarwal has now come forward to lodge a police complaint after the incident. Mayank lodged a police complaint at the NCC (New Capital Complex) Police Station in Agartala. Mayank’s manager informed Tripura Police about the incident and lodged a formal complaint. Right-hand batter Mayank will be travelling to Bengaluru on Wednesday.

Here’s what happened with Mayank Agarwal

Karnataka opener Mayank Agarwal was rushed to a hospital in Agartala, Tripura after his health worsened during his flight back to Delhi. Mayank along with the Karnataka team was flying back to Delhi after playing a Ranji Trophy game against Tripura. Mayank Agawal reportedly drank a sip of liquid from a pouch placed before his seat on the flight. Mayank felt uncomfortable after drinking water and vomited.

He later complained of throat irritation and severe pain in his stomach. Agarwal was immediately deboarded and rushed to ILS Hospital in Tripura where was admitted to the ICU. Mayank Agarwal is currently feeling better and has been discharged from the hospital. Agarwal will be getting further treatment in Bengaluru. Mayank will be missing Karnataka’s next Ranji Trophy game against Railways in Surat.

Karnataka Cricket Association (KSCA) will be consulting doctors before taking next step regarding opener Mayank Agarwal. Nikil Jose is likely to replace Mayank Agarwal as captain of the Karnataka for their next match against Railways. KSCA is yet to make the final announcement. Karnataka’s next game against Railways will be played at Lalbhai Contractor Stadium in Surat which will begin on 2nd February.
