This is also the home ground for the Mumbai Indians, and the likes of Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, and Jasprit Bumrah know these conditions better than most. Mumbai-based player Shivam Dube and former MI player Ishan Kishan also love batting at Wankhede.
This will be India’s second match at Wankhede in this World Cup, having kicked off their campaign here against the USA. It was a tricky pitch that evening, and Suryakumar Yadav scored a brilliant half-century to lead his team to victory.
India’s 161 against the USA was their lowest score at this venue, while their highest came against England. The highest individual score at this ground is also held by Abhishek Sharma, who also holds the record for the most sixes by an Indian at Wankhede in T20I.
