Punjab Kings have lost three consecutive games in IPL 2026.
Punjab Kings (PBKS) made a marvellous start to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. They were unbeaten in their first seven games and dominated the points table since the start.
The Shreyas Iyer & Co. scripted history in the clash against Delhi Capitals (DC), chasing down the highest ever-total in the IPL. They defeated DC by six wickets by pulling off a 265-run target.
However, just after that victory, their dominance collapsed as they suffered three defeats in a row. Rajasthan Royals (RR) defeated them by six wickets to end their unbeaten run, which was followed by a defeat against the Gujarat Titans (GT) by four wickets.
On Wednesday, May 6, the Shreyas Iyer & Co. lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), which ended their supremacy in the points table. With the victory, SRH displaced them from the top position in the points table. In this listicle, let’s discuss what went wrong with Punjab Kings in the last three games.
Reasons behind Punjab Kings’ losing streak in IPL 2026
3. Openers failing to deliver

Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya have been reliable openers for Punjab Kings since last season. Their blistering starts were one of the factors behind PBKS’ success in first seven games. However, the duo failed to provide a strong start in the last three games.
For instance, Arya has got out for 29, 2, and 1 in the last three clashes. Prabhsimran scored a fifty against RR but got out for 15 and 3 in the previous two encounters.
2. Shreyas Iyer’s struggles with bat

Shreyas Iyer was the star behind PBKS’ record chase of 265 against DC with his quick-fire half-century. Unarguably, Iyer’s captaincy is the leading force behind Punjab’s strength.
He has also led from the front in many games, but could not mark a mark in the last three clashes. He got out for 30, 19, and 5, and his early dismissal put a lot of pressure on other batters.
1. Poor bowling

Punjab have failed to make an impact with their bowling in the last three games. For instance, they could not defend a 222-run total against the Rajasthan Royals. Similarly, they completely failed to overpower SRH batsmen, who hammered a gigantic 235-run total in the first innings.
Despite having international stars like Arshdeep Singh, Marco Jansen, Lockie Ferguson, and Yuzvendra Chahal, their bowling unit has flopped in recent games.
