England and Australia will lock horns in The Ashes 2025-26 from November 21.
The countdown for The Ashes 2025-26 has begun as Australian Cricket Team and England Cricket Team are all set to cross swords with each other in the five-match test series. The opening match is set to commence on November 21 at Optus Stadium in Perth, and the series will conclude on January 8 with the fifth and final clash at Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney.
Australia will be without their regular captain Pat Cummins, who is injured, in the opening game in Perth and will be led by Steve Smith. Not only this, the hosts also will be missing the services of pacers Sean Abbott and Josh Hazlewood, who also have been ruled out of the opening game after sustaining injuries in the Sheffield Shield 2025-26. Mitchell Starc will have a lot of responsibility on his shoulders and is expected to share the new ball with Scott Boland.
England, led by Ben Stokes, will have a challenging task to outplay Australia in the campaign as the latter are known for their supremacy at home. Ahead of the series, the Ben Stokes-led also faced an injury scare after Mark Wood left the field during the warm-up match. But, thankfully it wasn’t serious as he has been declared fit and was named in the England’s 12-member squad for the opening game.
England have a strong pace unit with the likes of Jofra Archer, Gus Atkinson, Mark Wood, Brydon Carse, Josh Tongue, and Ben Stokes in their squad and stand-out batters in Harry Brook and Joe Root. But despite that, they will be under pressure as their record in Australia is not something which they will be proud of.
England last won The Ashes in Australia 15 years ago

Surprisingly, although England have been one of the best sides in the longest format for the last few years, they have failed to win The Ashes in Australia for more than a decade. Their last test series victory in Australia came 15 years ago in 2010/11 under the leadership of Sir Andrew Strauss, who took his team to a 3-1 victory.
The five-match series observed the opening game ending in a draw. England won the second clash by an innings and 71 runs, while the hosts won the third encounter by 267 runs. England bounced back with back-to-back huge victories in the fourth and fifth games, winning by an innings & 157 runs and an innings & 83 runs respectively. After Ashes 2010, England failed to outplay hosts Australia in 2013, 2017-18, and 2021-22 campaigns.
