India won 24 out of 26 T20Is in 2024.

India had a fantastic 2024 in the T20I format as they won 24 of the 26 completed T20Is. Their two losses came against Zimbabwe in July and South Africa in November.

India won their second ICC Men’s T20 World Cup last year in Barbados, beating South Africa by seven runs in the final. Beyond the victories, India underwent a significant shift in their approach to T20Is, adopting an aggressive all-out attack right from the first over.

India also crossed the 280-run mark twice in the year, posting scores of 297/6 against Bangladesh and 283/1 against South Africa.

Arshdeep Singh emerged as the joint-leading wicket-taker in the 2024 T20 World Cup. He currently sits second behind Yuzvendra Chahal on the list of most wickets for India in T20Is.

Under new skipper Suryakumar Yadav, India have won three T20I series in a row. India’s next T20I assignment is a five-match series against England at home, starting on January 22

The series will offer several players an opportunity to fine-tune their preparations ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

India have been a dominant force at home across all three formats. While their test series winning streak at home was snapped last year by New Zealand, it’s been a long time that India lost a home T20I series.

When was the last time India lost a home T20I series?

India’s last home T20I series loss came against Australia in February 2019. Australia defeated India 2-0 in a two match T20I series.

The visitors won the first game, a low-scoring encounter in Visakhapatnam, by three wickets on the last ball. Australia successfully chased down the 127-run target, thanks to a crucial 56-run knock from Glenn Maxwell.

The second game in Bengaluru was a run fest which saw Australia gun down 191 runs with two balls to spare. Maxwell once again top-scored, making an explosive 113 runs off 55 balls. His brilliant contributions throughout the series earned him the Player of the Series award.
