Zimbabwe have qualified for the Super 8 Round of the T20 World Cup 2026.
Zimbabwe have made a grand entry in the Super 8 round of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026. The Sikandar Raza & Co. are part of Group B in the multi-national tournament. They started their stint with a marvellous victory over Oman by eight wickets, winning the clash like a walk in the park.
Later, they stunned mighty Australia by handing them a defeat by 23 runs, defending their first innings total of 169/2 at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Their third clash against Ireland was abandoned due to rain; however, gaining one point was enough for Zimbabwe to move into the next round.
Along with Sri Lanka, they became the second team to book a berth in the Super 8 from Group B. They are currently second in the points table with five points, and have one more match left against Sri Lanka.
Since both teams have qualified for the Super 8, the outcome of the match will not affect the team standings. However, the winning team will finish the first round as the table toppers.
Zimbabwe have reached Round 2 for the second time
Notably, this is only the second time Zimbabwe have progressed beyond the first round of the T20 World Cup. The last time they bagged the triumph came in the T20 World Cup 2021.
Under Craig Ervine’s captaincy, they qualified for the Super 12 round. They were part of Group B alongside six other teams in the league stage. They won the first clash against Ireland but lost the second game against the West Indies.
Zimbabwe won the third game against Scotland, while their fourth match against South Africa ended in a draw. They defeated Pakistan by one run in a nail-biting clash in the fifth game, entering the Super 12 round with a win by the thinnest of margins.
In the Super 12, Zimbabwe lost all three of their encounters against Bangladesh, the Netherlands, and India; that’s how their journey ended in Round 2. However, they impressed with their memorable performance. They failed to qualify for the 2024 edition, but made a comeback in the T20 World Cup 2026.

Zimbabwe last qualified for Round 2 in the 2022 edition. They made it to the Super 12 round in that campaign.
