When will Mitchell Starc join Delhi Capitals squad for IPL 2026?

Mitchell Starc’s availability in the Indian Premier League 2026 is one of the biggest concerns for the Delhi Capitals (DC). The Australian star is the most crucial pacer for the side and would lead their bowling attack in IPL 2026.

DC retained Starc in their squad for the tournament for INR 11.75 crore. Although DC could not book a berth in the playoffs last year, Starc performed well. He took 14 wickets in 11 matches at an average of 26.14 and an economy of 10.17.

Currently, Starc has been in marvellous form. He played a crucial role in Australia’s victory in The Ashes 2025-26 earlier this year. With 31 wickets and two half-centuries across five matches, he was adjudged Player of the Series.

Since he is one of the most dangerous pacers in international cricket, his presence will add a lot of strength to DC’s bowling unit in IPL 2026. However, Starc’s availability for IPL 2026 remains uncertain as he has yet to receive a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Cricket Australia (CA) to play in the tournament.

Notably, CA are managing Starc’s workload carefully ahead of his busy international schedule for the Australian team.

Delhi Capitals provide update on Mitchell Starc’s availability

On Monday, DC head coach Hemang Badani and captain Axar Patel gave an update on Starc’s availability in IPL 2026. In a press conference, Badani said that they have not received any update from Cricket Australia on Starc’s participation in IPL 2026. Patel added that Starc can arrive in India on any date.

“With Mitchell Starc, we are waiting to hear from Cricket Australia. We’re waiting for the NOC from Cricket Australia. Once we get that, we’ll know what’s happening and when he’ll join us,” said Badani.

“Starc can come anytime, there’s no particular date. If he doesn’t come, there’s no temptation to replace a left-armer with a left armer. [T] Natarajan has been doing well and 100% fit. If needed on Starc and Impact player,” Axar said.

Meanwhile, Dushmantha Chameera, Mukesh Kumar, T Natarajan, Kyle Jamieson, and Lungi Ngidi are other pacers in the DC squad. The IPL 2020 runners-up will start their campaign with the opening clash against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on April 1.
