India drew against England, defeated West Indies at home and now suffered a loss to South Africa.
Indian Cricket Team suffered a humiliating defeat in the second and final test of the series against South Africa. This match was played at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati from November 22 to 26.
Confident after taking a 1-0 lead, South Africa dominated India throughout the test. They posted 489 in the first innings, having won the toss, thanks to Senuran Muthuswamy’s 109 and Marco Jansen’s 93.
Then India were bowled out for 201 as Jansen starred with the ball, taking six wickets. South Africa decided to bat again and posted 260/5d in the second innings, with Tristan Stubbs making 94 runs. This set India a target of 549 runs to chase.
And India crumbled against Simon Harmer, who took six wickets, while Ravindra Jadeja top-scored with 54. India was dismissed for 140 runs and lost the test by a massive 408 runs. South Africa also won their first test series in India since 2000.
What’s next for India in test cricket?

After the conclusion of the IND vs SA test series, the Indian cricket team will have a long break until their next test match. Following the conclusion of this series, India will concentrate on white-ball matches against South Africa, a series against New Zealand, and the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 in February-March.
The next time India play a test series will be after the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 concludes. The next two-match test series between India and Sri Lanka is scheduled for August 2026. In October and November of 2026, they will play two more games against New Zealand.
India’s home series against Australia, slated for January–February 2027, will be their last series prior to the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 final.

South Africa then dealt India a blow as the Proteas defeated them 2-0 in their own country, giving them their second home whitewash in a year.
