Who is Priyansh Arya? All you need to know about Punjab Kings' opener in IPL 2025

Priyansh Arya slammed a century against CSK in IPL 2025.
Priyansh Arya, an opening batter of Punjab Kings (PBKS), scored a marvellous century on Tuesday in a clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The left-handed batsman achieved the feat in his fourth game in the tournament.
On Tuesday, April 8, PBKS hosted CSK in match 22 of IPL 2025 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Chandigarh. The Shreyas Iyer-led side won the toss and opted to bat first against the visitors.
The 24-year-old batter slammed his maiden IPL fifty in just 19 deliveries to thrill cricket fans from across the country. Later, he converted his knock into a century off just 39 balls. He attacked the CSK bowlers right from the first over to provide a quickfire start to PBKS batting. Notably, the left-handed batter slammed an impressive 47-run knock on his IPL debut against Gujarat Titans (GT) earlier.
His 39-ball ton in the IPL is now the fastest century by an uncapped player in the IPL and the second-fastest by an Indian batter in the tournament’s history.
Who is Priyansh Arya?
Priyansh is a native of Delhi. Before making his IPL debut for PBKS, he played for Delhi Team in Indian domestic cricket. Ahead of IPL 2025, he played seven List-A games and 18 T20s in the Indian domestic circuit. He accounted for 77 runs in seven List A games. He also had one ton and three half-centuries in the shortest format.
However, Arya came into the limelight during the inaugural season of the Delhi Premier League (DPL T20) last year. Arya grabbed the headlines by smacking six sixes in an over during a clash against North Delhi Strikers. Playing for South Delhi Superstarz, he shattered 120 off 50 balls in the match. He registered a 286-run stand with his teammate Ayush Badoni in the encounter. With 608 runs, he finished as the highest run-scorer in the tournament.
With his impressive show in the tournament, Arya grabbed the eyeballs of the PBKS talent scout ahead of the IPL 2025 season. Later during the IPL 2025 mega auction, PBKS bought the young batter for a whooping price of INR 3.80 crores. He had a base price of INR 30 lakhs and the franchise made him the costliest uncapped player of the auction.
