Who is Snehith Reddy? All you need to know about Indian origin cricketer in New Zealand U19 World Cup team

Snehith Reddy will be representing New Zealand U19 side in the upcoming U19 World Cup.
New Zealand Cricket skipped the previous U19 World Cup in West Indies due to prevailing Covid restrictions and opted out of the mega youth event in 2022. They will be making their comeback in the U19 World Cup 2024 edition. New Zealand are still waiting for their maiden U19 World Cup title. Out of the 14 editions, New Zealand have managed to qualify for the finals only once in 1998 and finished as the runner-ups.
New Zealand U19 World Cup side will be looking to make their comeback memorable and end their long wait for an ICC title. They have included three South Asian origin members on their side. Afghan origin Rehman Hekmat and Indian origin Snehith Reddy and Oliver Tewatiya will be seen in Kiwi side in the upcoming mega youth event set to begin on 19th January. Snehith Reddy has become an inspiring name in Kiwi cricket.
Who is Snehith Reddy?
Born in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, Snehith Reddy will be a player to watch out for in the upcoming tournament. Snehith’s family moved to Auckland from Vijayawada when he was just 6 months old in 2007. Snehith has already impressed everyone with his magnificent performance in the U17 age group in New Zealand cricket. Fondly called ‘Lucky Reddy’ is a right hand batter and an off-spinner.
Snehith’s family moved to Hamilton in 2014 and opened a cafe at Victoria Street in town. Snehith’s love for cricket began watching his father play at club-level cricket in Hamilton. Snehith used to watch his father play. Snehith took up the sport at an early age and began his training at Hamilton Boy’s High School. He was named in Norther District A side at the age of just 15.
Snehith Reddy has trained under legendary Kiwi test cricketer BJ Watling and also under Craig Kuggeleijn. Snehith Reddy’s role model is legendary New Zealand batter Kane Williamson. NZ are placed in group D along with Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nepal.
